latitude
Latitude: International Group Show of Emerging Artists London-Minneapolis-New York City Please join us for Emily Lutzker's NYC live performance "Color Me Your Color, Blondie" from her "UnKaraoke Project" series on March 14 at 8 p.m.
Latitude is a traveling group exhibition of emerging artists drawn equally from London, Minneapolis, and New York. The show evolves as it travels to exhibitions in each city. Latitude at NYCAMS is the third and final stage of this migration.
Artists of widely differing practices and locales are brought together in an attempt to explore their fluid geographical identities. The artists are informed by both their immediate surroundings and the knowledge that their artistic production is part of a global dialogue. As such, common and uncommon themes are revealed as the artists' respond to each other's work and the evolution of their own work over time and in each location.
Dead Composition
Dead Composition is a show with artists who are using a method of image-making discovered while filling the margins of high school notebooks, on the covers of textbooks, in secret sketch books—the images produced in place of history notes or chemical formulas. These artists are by no means making adolescent art; they have taken those image-making techniques and applied them to express mature ideas.
NYCAMS Alumni Exhibition #1
Calvin College's downtown gallery, (106), is proud to present the inaugural NYCAMS Alumni Show. The works, juried by Yale University Art Gallery Curator Jennifer Gross and (106) Curator Kevin Buist, represent a diverse collection of young artists from around the country. The show features sculpture, video installation, drawing, photography, painting, and mixed media. The common thread shared by these artists is their commitment to engage in a meaningful dialog with contemporary art.
